Kazakhstan's industrial output rises 1.9% in January-AprilKazakhstan's industrial production reached 21.7 trillion tenge in the first four months of 2026, a 1.9% increase from the same period last year, the Bureau of National Statistics reported Friday.The extraction sector accounted for 9.66 trillion tenge, or 44.6% of total output, while manufacturing contributed 10.263 trillion tenge, or 47.4%.Mineral extraction fell 7.3%, pulled down by declines in crude oil and natural gas production, which dropped 13.9% and 10.3%, respectively.Manufacturing rose 9.9%. Electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning supply gained 7.5%, while water supply, wastewater management, waste collection and treatment, and remediation activities surged 14.3%.Key manufacturing gains included a 14.4% rise in food production, 7.6% in beverages, 35.2% in basic pharmaceuticals, 30.8% in rubber and plastic products, 27.7% in other non-metallic mineral products, 46.6% in fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment, and 23.3% in machinery manufacturing.The increase in electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning supply was driven by a 2.3% rise in power generation, transmission and distribution, a 12.4% increase in production and pipeline distribution of gaseous fuels, and a 25% jump in steam, hot water and air conditioning supply.Water intake, treatment and distribution grew 12.7%, wastewater collection and treatment rose 12.5%, and waste collection, treatment, disposal and material recovery increased 16.1%.
