Road freight between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan rises 5.8% in January-AprilRoad freight volumes between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan rose 5.8% year-on-year in the first four months of 2026, while the number of vehicles crossing the border jumped 17.9%, Tajikistan's Transport Ministry said Monday.The figures were released as Tajik Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim and Kazakh Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev met on the sidelines of the 18th session of the TRACECA intergovernmental commission to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in international transport, corridor development, digitalization and transit.Ibrohim said Tajikistan places high priority on deepening transport ties with Kazakhstan as a key regional partner.Both sides also noted positive momentum in rail freight and transit via Kazakhstan. Railway volumes exceeded 5.6 million tonnes in 2025, more than 621,000 tonnes above the 2024 level.The ministers stressed the importance of continued joint work on developing international transport corridors, streamlining transit procedures and boosting infrastructure capacity.
