Kazakhstan targets 5%-6% annual GDP growth – economy deputy ministerThe Kazakh government aims to maintain annual economic growth of 5% to 6% and increase GDP to $450 billion by 2029, Deputy Minister of National Economy Arman Kassenov said."Our goal is to continue supporting high growth rates in the coming years at the level of 5%-6% and reach GDP of $450 billion by 2029," Kassenov told the Senate, the upper house of parliament, on Monday.He said Kazakhstan had posted strong economic growth over the past three years."Each year, real GDP growth exceeded 5%, which is a very high figure and more than 1.5 times the global average," the deputy minister said.Since the beginning of 2017, Kazakhstan's real GDP has grown cumulatively by 39%, exceeding global real GDP growth of 30%, he said. The strongest growth rates have been recorded in recent years, beginning in 2023.Kazakhstan's GDP grew 6.5% in 2025 and 3.6% in January-April 2026. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov earlier instructed the government to ensure sustainable economic growth above 5% in 2026. (ICE ALMATY)
