Kashagan oil output falls to 6.6 million tonnes in nearly 5 months - NCOCKazakhstan's Kashagan oil field produced 6.6 million tonnes of crude from January through mid-May 2026, down from the same period last year, operator North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) said Tuesday."Output from the start of the year through May 18 totaled 52.6 million barrels, or 6.6 million tonnes," NCOC said in response to an Interfax-Kazakhstan inquiry.By comparison, Kashagan produced about 7.7 million tonnes in the first five months of 2025. Full-year output in 2025 reached 18.2 million tonnes.Kashagan, one of the world's largest oil discoveries in recent decades, holds recoverable reserves estimated at 9 billion to 13 billion barrels. Commercial production began in fall 2016.NCOC shareholders are KMG Kashagan B.V. (16.877%), Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. (16.807%), Total EP Kazakhstan (16.807%), AgipCaspian Sea B.V. (16.807%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc. (16.807%), CNPC Kazakhstan B.V. (8.333%) and Inpex North Caspian Sea Ltd. (7.563%). (ICE ALMATY)
