Kazakh oil could be transported via Baku-Supsa pipeline - Georgian PMGeorgia expects to receive tens of millions of lari from oil transportation via the Baku-Supsa pipeline, with oil transit from Kazakhstan anticipated, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said."I can't go into details right now, of course, but this pipeline will be properly commissioned, most likely including the transportation of Kazakh oil, which will generate a lot of revenue. The rest is up to Azerbaijan and our mutual agreements about which country the oil will be transported from," quoted Kobakhidze as saying at a briefing in the government administration on Tuesday."The main thing is that the pipeline, which was shut down for years, will go back into operation, and our country will receive tens of millions of lari in revenue from it each year," he said.Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement on Monday aimed at resuming operations of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline, the Georgian Economy Ministry said."During the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to Baku, a new agreement was signed providing for the conclusion of an operating contract for the Georgian section of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline, which will ensure the resumption of oil transit from Central Asia to Europe through Georgian territory and significantly increase our country's budget revenues," the ministry said.The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline, 837 km long and 530 mm in diameter with capacity of 7.5 million tonnes of oil per year, was built under the contract to develop the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields. Currently, only individual oil consignments are transported through the pipeline. The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry said in an annual report that 90,000 tonnes of oil were transported through it in 2024 and 150,000 tonnes in 2023. BP in Azerbaijan has said the Baku-Supsa pipeline had not been frozen and was totally ready to begin transporting oil at any time. (ICE ALMATY)
