Kazakhstan grain, flour exports rise 13.6% since start of agricultural yearKazakhstan exported 11.7 million tonnes of grain and flour in grain equivalent from September 2025 through May 20, 2026, a 13.6% increase compared with the same period of the previous agricultural season, the Ministry of Agriculture said, citing data from national railway carrier Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.Exports during the same period of the prior season totaled 10.3 million tonnes, the ministry said.The strongest growth was recorded for Central Asian and Afghan markets. Exports to Uzbekistan rose 39.5% to 4.8 million tonnes from 3.5 million tonnes. Shipments to Kyrgyzstan more than doubled to 457,000 tonnes from 297,000 tonnes. Exports to Afghanistan surged 130% to 3 million tonnes from 1.3 million tonnes, while deliveries to Turkmenistan grew 47.7% to 192,000 tonnes from 130,000 tonnes."The positive trend indicates high demand for Kazakh grain products in foreign markets, as well as the effectiveness of measures to develop export logistics and expand trade and economic cooperation with foreign partners," the ministry said.The ministry plans to export 13 million tonnes of new-crop grain in the current agricultural year, which runs from September 2025 through August 2026, roughly matching the previous season's volume.Kazakhstan harvested 27 million tonnes of grain in 2025, a 2% increase from 2024, with average yield at 17 centners per hectare. In 2024, farmers harvested 26.5 million tonnes with an average yield of 16 centners per hectare. (ICE ALMATY)
