INDONESIA EXPANDS PRODUCTIVE AQUACULTURE PONDS FOR EXPORTS & JOBS
Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto has announced a major expansion of aquaculture zones across Indonesia, emphasizing productive projects as the cornerstone of national development. The initiative includes thousands of hectares in Waingapu, Gorontalo, and Pantura, with diversification into both shrimp and fish farming. This strategy aims to strengthen food security, boost protein supply, and open new export opportunities while creating jobs and raising local economic value. The Kebumen Area‑Based Shrimp Farming Project (BUBK) serves as a model of success, producing over 1.15 million kilograms of shrimp valued at IDR 83.3 billion and employing hundreds of workers. With yields reaching 40 tons per hectare, the project demonstrates how modernized aquaculture can drive Indonesia’s fisheries sector forward. Prabowo stressed that budgets should prioritize production‑driven initiatives rather than office construction, underscoring his commitment to a production‑based economic development strategy.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/national/2436302/indonesia-expands-productive-aquaculture-ponds-for-exports-jobs (ICE GIACARTA)
