CPC oil shipments drop 25% in Q1 to 13.4 mln tonnesThe Caspian Pipeline Consortium shipped 13.415 million tonnes of oil in the first quarter of 2026, down nearly 25% from the same period a year earlier, according to operational data released by one of its shareholders, Kazakhstan's KazMunaiGas.The consortium transported 17.849 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2025, meaning shipments fell 24.8% year-on-year in January through March 2026. KMG's share of the total came to 2.78 million tonnes.The 1,500-kilometer CPC pipeline links oil fields in western Kazakhstan and Russian offshore deposits in the Caspian Sea to a marine terminal near Novorossiysk on Russia's Black Sea coast. The system is Kazakhstan's main oil export route, carrying more than 80% of the country's pipeline exports.The consortium's capacity stands at roughly 72.5 million tonnes per year from Kazakh territory and up to 83 million tonnes through Russia.CPC shipped 70.52 million tonnes in 2025, a 12% increase, and has forecast 72 million tonnes for 2026.Since November 2025, the marine terminal has been operating with two of its three single-point moorings after one was destroyed in an unmanned boat attack on November 29. The consortium is working to replace the damaged unit. Standard operations require two moorings in service with a third held in reserve.CPC shareholders are Russia, with a combined 31% stake — 24% managed by Transneft and 7% held on its balance sheet; Kazakhstan, with 20.75%, represented by KazMunaiGas with 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC with 1.75%; Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company with 15%; LUKOIL International GmbH with 12.5%; Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company with 7.5%; Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited with 7.5%; BG Overseas Holding Limited with 2%; Eni International N.A. N.V. with 2%; and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC with 1.75%. (ICE ALMATY)
