SYRIA REGISTERS OVER 1,800 NEW COMPANIES IN 2026 AS INVESTMENT CLIMATE IMPROVES

Syria has registered 1,846 new companies since the beginning of the year, a senior economy ministry official said Sunday, reflecting what authorities describe as a steady improvement in the country’s business and investment environment following the fall of the deposed regime.  In a statement to SANA, Abdulmajeed Abdo, director of Corporate Affairs and Property Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Economy and Industry, said that the registered firms included 1349 limited liability companies, 432 general partnerships, 38 limited partnerships, 24 closed private joint-stock companies, and three closed holding companies.  Abdo attributed the rise to government efforts to streamline company registration procedures and rehabilitate the directorate’s services, which he said had been fully modernized to create a more stable and investor-friendly climate.  He added that authorities are currently launching an electronic system for online company incorporation, aimed at allowing investors from inside and outside Syria to complete registration remotely and track applications step by step. The system will include an electronic payment gateway, he said, reducing red tape and saving time.  In July 2025, the ministry reopened the Directorate of Corporate Affairs and Property Protection in a new location in Damascus following a full rehabilitation of its facilities and services.  The development comes as Syria’s new administration makes efforts to attract foreign and domestic investments to rebuild a recovering national economy.
