EuroChem launches sulfuric acid production plant in KazakhstanEuroChem has launched a sulfuric acid production plant in Kazakhstan, the company's press service said.The design capacity of the facility is 800,000 tonnes per year. Its products will be used both for the needs of the EuroChem chemical complex under construction on the same site and to meet the demand of Kazakhstan's domestic market.The launch of sulfuric acid production is the second stage of the investment project being implemented by EuroChem on the basis of the phosphorite deposits of the Karatau basin in southern Kazakhstan. A mining and processing complex for extracting and processing phosphate raw materials with a capacity of 840,000 tonnes per year has been in operation since 2016. The final stage will be the launch of a complex for producing mineral fertilizers and industrial products in 2027.The total capex of the project exceeds $1 billion.The complex will be able to produce more than 1 million tonnes of products per year. EuroChem expects that it will be in demand not only in Kazakhstan, but also in other Central Asian countries, as well as in Russia, China and European markets. (ICE ALMATY)
