Banque du Liban Governor was elected chairman of the Board of Governors of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) for the coming year during the Fund’s 49th annual meeting held on May 19, 2026.  The meeting gathered finance ministers and central bank governors from several Arab countries and focused on strengthening financial and monetary cooperation, enhancing economic coordination among member states and supporting Arab economies amid evolving regional and international economic conditions. The appointment was viewed as a sign of Lebanon’s continued participation and role within joint Arab financial institutions despite the country’s ongoing economic and financial challenges.
