The Thessaloniki Port Authority SA, Hellenic Train (acquired by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane), and Bulgarian State Railways signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at strengthening intermodal transport and expanding supply chain capabilities in Southeast Europe. This trilateral cooperation paves the way for the development of a strong rail freight corridor centred on the Port of Thessaloniki, strengthening its connection with Bulgaria and the markets of the Balkans and Central Europe. The trilateral cooperation focuses on:-upgrading Thessaloniki’s rail connectivity -developing competitive freight transport services -reducing transit times and logistics costs -promoting sustainable transport through railway upgrades.
