KAZAKHSTAN-EAEU-AGRICULTURE-DIGITALIZATION
Tokayev urges EAEU countries to speed up digitalization of industry and agricultureKazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states to more actively introduce digital technologies in industry and agriculture, saying digitalization is a key factor for competitiveness and sustainable economic growth."Robotics, cloud solutions in industrial and mining sectors, and digital twins of large industrial enterprises boost productivity and reduce costs. Automating agriculture increases yields, saves water and reduces environmental strain," Tokayev said Friday at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana. He said that digitalizing the economy is not just a technological trend but a key competitive advantage."Thanks to digital tools for detailed planning and forecasting, Kazakhstan has harvested record grain volumes of 27 million tonnes for two straight years. We are working to fully digitize all agricultural land. The use of agricultural drones, satellite navigation and weather station data is expanding rapidly. The process of granting land use rights is moving to electronic format. State support for farmers will be fully digitized, which will reduce corruption risks," Tokayev said.He added that EAEU countries could focus their efforts on supporting high-tech initiatives capable of strengthening the union's position in the global food market."Adopting amendments to the EAEU treaty on financial support for cooperative projects in agriculture is an important step in this direction," Tokayev said.
