INDONESIA SEES JEWELRY EXPORTS SURGE AS INDUSTRY EXPANDS GLOBAL REACH

Indonesia is intensifying efforts to develop its jewelry industry following a sharp 64.73% increase in exports, which reached USD 9.1 billion in 2025. The government sees the sector as a key high-value industry that not only boosts exports but also supports cultural heritage and employment. To sustain this growth, the Industry Ministry is promoting capacity building, technology adoption, and market expansion, including support for events like the Bandung Jewellery Fair (BJF) 2026. Officials highlight that rising exports reflect stronger global competitiveness of Indonesian jewelry products. At the same time, the government is pushing for digital transformation and Industry 4.0 adoption to enhance efficiency, innovation, and product quality. Assessments show positive progress in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and smart manufacturing among industry players. However, challenges remain, including global economic uncertainty, fluctuating raw material prices, evolving consumer trends, and the need for faster technological adaptation. Events like BJF are expected to help businesses expand networks, monitor trends, and strengthen competitiveness in the global market.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2493919/indonesia-sees-jewelry-exports-surge-as-industry-expands-global-reach#google_vignette (ICE GIACARTA)
