Chinese investors have injected approximately Rp15 trillion into the Seafer Industrial Zone (KIS) in Kendal, Central Java, to develop the electric vehicle (EV) industry. The project was solidified through partnerships between PT KIA Kendal, PT New Generation Mobility (NGM), and PT China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), witnessed by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi.The integrated EV hub will produce batteries, tires, and spare parts for commercial EVs and electric motorcycles, prioritizing over 50% local content (TKDN). Central Java was chosen for its strategic location, stability, and ease of licensing.
