INDONESIA REGAINS ACCESS TO EU AQUACULTURE MARKET
Indonesia has regained access to the European Union aquaculture market after being re-listed among countries authorized to export farmed fish. This development comes as a relief to Indonesian fish farmers, who had been concerned when the country was previously excluded under EU Regulation 2024/2598. According to Ishartini from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), the reinstatement was formalized through Regulation (EU) 2026/1189 issued on June 4, 2026, following intensive negotiations and diplomatic efforts by the Indonesian government. The successful outcome involved coordination with multiple parties, including the EU Directorate General for Health and Food Safety, the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, and relevant ministries. The EU market is highly significant due to its high fish consumption (around 24–25 kg per capita annually) and strong purchasing power. As one of Indonesia’s top export destinations, key products include shrimp, milkfish, and catfish, with growing opportunities for tilapia exports as well.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/419265/indonesia-regain-access-to-eu-aquaculture-market?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news (ICE GIACARTA)
