INDONESIA'S MINISTRY HAS ALLOCATED IDR5.2 TLN FOR HOUSEHOLD GAS NETWORKS IN 2027

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has allocated IDR 5.2 trillion in the 2027 fiscal year to expand the household natural gas network (jargas), targeting 959,232 new household connections under a 2026–2028 multi-year contract. This is part of the ministry’s total indicative budget of IDR 27.33 trillion, with 82% (IDR 22.48 trillion) prioritized for strategic programs and infrastructure. Additional allocations include IDR 3.9 trillion for the Dumai–Sei Mangkei pipeline, IDR 702.3 billion for the Semarang–Solo–Jogja pipeline, and IDR 577 billion for the Cirebon–Bandung pipeline. The government aims to expand gas infrastructure to reduce dependence on imported LPG, as piped natural gas is estimated to be up to 40% more economical. Currently, gas networks serve only 86 cities/regencies, leaving significant room for growth. By 2024, a total of 943,000 household connections had been installed—703,000 funded by the state budget and 240,000 from non-state schemes. To support wider adoption, the government is also accelerating major gas pipeline integration projects across Sumatra and Java, including the Cisem and Dusem transmission pipelines.Source: https://voi.id/ekonomi/580228/kementerian-esdm-siapkan-rp5-2-triliun-untuk-jargas-rumah-tangga-pada-2027 (ICE GIACARTA)
