Kazakhstan’s construction output rises 13.4% in Jan-MayThe volume of construction work in Kazakhstan reached 2.41 trillion tenge in January-May 2026, a 13.4% increase compared with the same period last year, the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms reported.The largest volume of work during the period was on civil engineering projects at 1.35 trillion tenge, followed by non-residential buildings at 695 billion tenge and residential buildings at 362.8 billion tenge.Total floor space of completed housing increased 4.5% year-on-year, reaching 6.29 million square meters. Space in multi-unit residential buildings rose 9.6% to 4.2 million square meters, while space in single-family homes fell 3.6% to 2.1 million square meters.In January-May 2026, construction was completed on 12,200 new buildings, of which 11,075 were residential and 1,114 were non-residential. A total of 23 secondary schools, 22 preschools and three outpatient clinics were put into operation.Kazakhstan’s population is about 20.5 million. (ICE ALMATY)
