€25 MILLION EUROPEAN GRANT FOR MADABA WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT EXPANSION
The Cabinet, during its session on Wednesday, approved a €25 million grant agreement between the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD) to finance the expansion of the Madaba wastewater treatment plant and the rehabilitation of sewage networks in the governorate. The Madaba wastewater project is considered one of the most significant initiatives in Jordan's water sector. Upon completion, it is expected to serve approximately 200,000 residents by increasing the treatment plant's capacity to 16,000 cubic meters per day. The project will also support the reuse of treated wastewater for restricted agricultural purposes, particularly for irrigating specific crops such as animal feed, thereby enhancing water sustainability and improving the efficient use of water resources.
