KAZAKHSTAN-LUXEMBOURG-PROJECT
Kazakhstan and Luxembourg's Hydrosat agree on water management project using satellite technologyKazakhstan's national space company, Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary, and Luxembourg-based Hydrosat S.à.r.l. have agreed to implement a pilot project on water resource management using satellite technology.The cooperation agreement was signed during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Belgium, the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development reported.The project will provide verified data and analytics to improve water use efficiency, manage irrigation and assess water resource utilization.Under the project, Hydrosat's analytical solutions and satellite technologies – including models for processing satellite and ground-based data, calculations of evapotranspiration, soil moisture and crop condition indicators – will be integrated with the infrastructure and operational capabilities of Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary.The pilot project is planned for the Zhambyl region, with potential for further expansion across Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.During the visit, cooperation agreements were also signed with Belgian universities KU Leuven and Ghent University. The agreements cover joint research, international scientific collaboration, academic exchanges, professional training and technology projects under Kazakhstan-EU cooperation and Horizon Europe.The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in artificial intelligence, scientific research and specialist training.
