IRAQI FOREIGN MINISTER: JORDAN-IRAQ RELATIONS MUST BE FURTHER STRENGTHENED

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on Monday that building strong relations with neighboring countries, particularly Jordan, remains a top priority of Iraq’s foreign policy, highlighting the deep historical ties between the two nations. In an exclusive interview with Al-Mamlaka, Hussein stressed that Jordan-Iraq relations should be further strengthened, given the broad and growing economic cooperation between the two countries. He underscored the importance of establishing oil export pipelines through neighboring countries, especially in light of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz during the Iran-Iraq War. Hussein noted that the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline project has been under consideration for many years and has undergone multiple feasibility studies. He added that Iraq has already begun implementing the project up to the Iraqi-Jordanian border, emphasizing that extending the pipeline has become a strategic necessity for Iraq. (ICE AMMAN)
