DAMASCUS SECURITIES EXCHANGE RECORDS STRONG TURNOVER BACKED BY MAJOR DEAL
Trading activity on the Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE) rose on Sunday, with total turnover reaching SYP 36.315 million, distributed across 405 transactions and a trading volume of 1.742 million shares, according to the market’s daily bulletin. The session was marked by a single block trade valued at SYP 24.024 million involving 1.2 million shares, a transaction that significantly boosted overall turnover and market liquidity. Among gainers, Fransabank led the market with a 4.99 percent increase, closing at SYP 29.02 per share, followed by al-Ahlia Vegetable Oils Company, which rose 4.98 percent to close at SYP 343.34. Banque Bemo Saudi Fransi advanced 4.92 percent to SYP 20.89, while National Credit Bank added 4.89 percent to close at SYP 13.93, reflecting broad gains across the banking sector. Bank of the Orient posted a modest increase of 0.62 percent to close at SYP 21.20, while al-Baraka Bank rose 0.27 percent to SYP 18.79. Qatar National Bank-Syria edged up 0.10 percent to close at SYP 20.04. On the downside, al-Ahlia Transport Company recorded the session’s steepest decline, falling 4.75 percent to SYP 149.22 per share. The National Islamic Bank dropped 4.69 percent to close at SYP 21.75. Industrial stocks also came under pressure, with al-Badia Cement declining 2.18 percent to SYP 820.66. Meanwhile, the International Bank for Trade and Finance fell 1.98 percent to close at SYP 16.81.
