Kazakhstan inflation slows to 10.3% in June, within analyst forecasts (Part 2)(adds National Statistics Bureau data in paragraphs 4-7)Inflation in Kazakhstan slowed to 10.3% in June, Deputy Prime Minister and National Economy Minister Serik Zhumangarin said Wednesday."Inflationary processes are gradually stabilizing. In June, inflation slowed to 10.3%," Zhumangarin told a government meeting in Astana.He noted that the government's target for this year is to bring inflation below 10%.Monthly inflation stood at 0.8% in June, up from 0.7% in May, according to the National Statistics Bureau of the Strategic Planning and Reforms Agency.Food prices rose 10.4% year-on-year (vs. 10.7% in May), non-food items rose 11.7% (unchanged from May), and paid services rose 9% (vs. 8.7% in May), the bureau reported.Food and non-alcoholic beverages contributed the most to annual inflation, accounting for 4.2 percentage points, followed by clothing and footwear, personal care, social protection and other goods and services at 1 percentage point.On a monthly basis, paid services rose 1.1%, non-food items rose 0.9%, and food prices rose 0.6%.Analysts surveyed by Interfax-Kazakhstan had forecast June inflation at 10-10.5% year-on-year.Annual inflation stood at 12.2% in January, 11.7% in February, 11% in March, 10.6% in April and 10.4% in May.
