Kazakhstan plans 5.4% gas production cut to 64.5 bcm in 2026Kazakhstan plans to produce 64.5 billion cubic meters of gas this year, according to a presentation by Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov at a government meeting on Tuesday.The country produced 68.2 billion cubic meters in 2025, meaning output would decline by 5.4% this year.Actual production in the first five months of 2026 reached 25.9 billion cubic meters, according to the Energy Ministry.Commercial gas production in January-May totaled 10 billion cubic meters. The 2026 target is 27.4 billion cubic meters, matching the 2025 level.Liquefied gas production in the first five months stood at 0.85 million tonnes, with the full-year target set at 3 million tonnes — unchanged from 2025.The ministry expects commercial gas consumption to rise 4.6% to 22.6 billion cubic meters in 2026, up from 21.6 billion in 2025.
