LITHUANIA LAUNCHES CALL TO ESTABLISH “LITAI” ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FACTORY
The Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation has launched a call for the establishment of “LitAI”, a national artificial intelligence factory. The project will be led by a Lithuanian consortium coordinated by Vilnius University and is expected to strengthen the country’s AI infrastructure and innovation ecosystem.The total project budget amounts to €130 million, with half of the funding to be allocated by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation and the other half covered through already approved EU programmes under the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. The factory will combine AI-optimised supercomputing infrastructure, data, expertise, development programmes and related services.According to the Ministry, LitAI will be the only national AI infrastructure of this scale in the Baltic States. The project is intended to support the development and application of advanced AI solutions in business, academia and the public sector, while contributing to Lithuania’s digital sovereignty and high-value-added innovation capacity.
