At the second G20 Sherpa Meeting under the 2026 U.S. Presidency in Washington, D.C., Indonesia positioned itself as a consensus builder, advocating reforms to global trade rules, enhanced energy security, and more inclusive global economic governance amid rising geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Indonesia supported measures to combat forced labour, review the unconditional Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) principle, address industrial overcapacity, strengthen energy resilience, and promote fair debt treatment, while emphasising that domestic deregulation should not undermine labour, social, or environmental protections.
