Kazakhstan retail trade up 3.8% in first half of 2026Retail trade in Kazakhstan grew 3.8% year-on-year in the first half of 2026 to 11.533 trillion tenge, the Bureau of National Statistics said Tuesday.Sales by trading enterprises rose 0.8%, according to the data.Food sales increased 9.5% compared with January–June 2025, while non-food sales grew 1.3%.Retail inventories stood at 1.724 trillion tenge as of July 1, equivalent to 61 days of trade.Private enterprises accounted for 10.194 trillion tenge, or 88.4% of total retail turnover, while foreign-owned businesses generated 1.338 trillion tenge, or 11.6%.Food products made up 32.3% of total retail trade, with non-food goods at 67.7%.Almaty led all regions with a 31.5% share of national retail turnover, followed by Astana at 13.7%, the Karaganda region at 7.1% and the East Kazakhstan region at 5.6%.
