Kazakhstan's foreign trade surplus narrows 24% in Jan-MayKazakhstan's foreign trade turnover reached $56.349 billion in January-May 2026, up 4.3% from the same period last year, the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms said.Exports rose 1.6% to $30.362 billion, while imports grew 7.7% to $25.987 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $4.375 billion, down 24% year-on-year.Kazakhstan's exports were dominated by crude oil and petroleum products (44.6%), refined copper and unwrought copper alloys (7.6%), copper ores and concentrates (5.9%), ferroalloys (3%) and wheat and meslin (2.8%).Key imports included passenger cars and other motor vehicles (3.1%), telephones (2.7%), pharmaceutical products (2.5%), petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons (2.5%), and electric generators and rotary converters (2.4%).Trade with Eurasian Economic Union member states totaled $12.467 billion in January-May, up 11.2% year-on-year. Exports to the EAEU fell 7.1% to $3.549 billion, while imports rose 20.6% to $8.918 billion.Russia accounted for the largest share of Kazakhstan's EAEU trade at 87.3%, followed by Kyrgyzstan (8.2%), Belarus (4.1%) and Armenia (0.3%).Kazakhstan's top export partners were China (19.9%), Italy (16.4%), Russia (8.8%), Turkey (7.6%), the Netherlands (6.3%) and Uzbekistan (5.8%).Its top import partners were Russia (31.6%), China (28.8%), Germany (4.9%), the United States (4.4%), South Korea (2.5%) and Turkey (2.2%).
