KUWAIT AIRWAYS RESUMES SCHEDULED FLIGHTS TO DAMASCUS AFTER YEARS-LONG SUSPENSION

Kuwait Airways resumed scheduled flights to Damascus on Wednesday, restoring its direct service to Syria after years of suspension in the latest sign of recovering regional air connectivity.   Damascus International Airport received the carrier’s first inbound flight from Kuwait, marking the return of the Kuwaiti national airline’s regular operations to Syria.  Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport said the move forms part of the continued expansion of international air links through Damascus International Airport, reflecting growing passenger demand and strengthening travel between Syria and Kuwait.  Mustafa Khairallah, head of the authority’s media department, told SANA that the return of Kuwait Airways reflects the strong ties between the two countries and helps strengthen people-to-people connections.  He said the resumption of the Kuwaiti national carrier’s scheduled services represents an important addition to Syria’s growing international flight network and demonstrates increasing confidence in the country’s civil aviation sector amid ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and improve passenger services.  Khairallah added that the authority is seeking to expand cooperation with more Arab and international airlines to strengthen air connectivity and support travel, tourism, and economic exchange.  Earlier, the authority announced that Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways will launch regular direct flights between Kuwait and Deir Ezzor beginning Aug. 8, further expanding air links between the two countries.
