Kazakhstan's registered vehicle fleet tops 6 million, passenger cars exceed 5 millionKazakhstan had 6.03 million registered motor vehicles as of July 1, more than 5 million of them passenger cars, the Bureau of National Statistics said Friday, citing Interior Ministry data.Passenger cars made up 83.9% of the total, or 5.05 million units. Trucks accounted for 493,700 vehicles, or 8.2%, followed by buses at 89,500, motorcycles at 74,200, trailers at 262,300 and other vehicles at 52,600.The largest concentration of vehicles is in Almaty, with 733,300 registered units, and the surrounding Almaty region with 646,300.In June alone, 167,878 vehicles were registered, up 13.7% from 147,668 in May, the statistics bureau said. Passenger cars accounted for 87.4% of June registrations, trucks for 5.7%, trailers for 2.4%, motorcycles for 1%, buses for 0.9% and other vehicles for 2.6%.By engine size, 34.5% of newly registered vehicles fell in the 1,500-2,000 cubic centimeter range. Gasoline-powered vehicles dominated at 81.1% of June registrations, or 136,232 units. Diesel vehicles totaled 10,845, or 6.5%, while 11,183 vehicles ran on mixed fuels, 2,872 were electric, 895 used gas and 5,851 had no fuel type listed.Kazakhstan's population exceeds 20.5 million.
