METALS, MINING, AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS LEAD INDONESIA’S H1 2026 FDI INFLOWS
Indonesia recorded strong foreign direct investment inflows in the first half of 2026, totaling Rp 507.6 trillion (US$28.63 billion), which made up just over half of the nation’s total realized investment. The transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications subsector led foreign inflows with Rp135 trillion (US$7.61 billion), while metals and mining continued to attract significant capital. The basic metal industry alone drew Rp150.4 trillion (US$8.48 billion), benefiting from downstream processing of nickel, bauxite, copper, and iron and steel. Mining followed as the third-largest destination, securing Rp105 trillion (US$5.92 billion). Overall, Indonesia’s investment realization reached Rp1,010.6 trillion (US$57.00 billion), achieving nearly half of the government’s annual target and marking a 7.2% increase year-on-year. This growth generated employment for over 1.44 million workers. Domestic investment contributed almost equally, at Rp502.9 trillion (US$28.36 billion), with local investors prioritizing the basic metal industry, channeling Rp74.5 trillion (US$4.20 billion) into the subsector. The figures highlight Indonesia’s balanced mix of foreign and domestic capital, as well as the strategic role of metals and mining in sustaining long-term growth.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/6948/business-and-investment/metals-mining-and-telecommunications-lead-indonesia-s-h1-2026-fdi-inflows (ICE GIACARTA)
