Kazakhstan may export record 470,000 tonnes of lentils this agricultural year – Grain UnionKazakhstan could export a record 470,000 tonnes of lentils in the current agricultural year (September 2025-August 2026), the Kazakh Grain Union said."We have raised our previous export forecast for lentils in 2025/26 by 30,000 tonnes to 470,000 tonnes, which would be an all-time record," said Yevgeniy Karabanov, head of analytics at the Grain Union, in his Telegram channel.Lentil exports from Kazakhstan reached 24,000 tonnes in May, up 14% from April.In the first nine months of the current agricultural year (September 2025-May 2026), Kazakhstan exported a record 394,900 tonnes of lentils, up 47% from the same period last year and 20% above total exports for the entire previous agricultural year, which had been the best on record, Karabanov said.Turkey, the main buyer, has increased lentil imports from Kazakhstan nearly 2.3-fold this agricultural year to 347,100 tonnes, accounting for 88% of total exports.Kazakhstan harvested a record legume crop of more than 1.1 million tonnes in 2025, including 840,000 tonnes of lentils.
