LABBY SECURES $10M IN SYRIAN TECH STARTUP SECTOR'S FIRST FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT

Syrian startup Labby, a developer of comprehensive digital service applications ("Super Apps"), has successfully raised $10 million in a funding round led by a consortium of investors from the UAE and Saudi Arabia.  The transaction marks the first foreign direct investment in a Syrian technology startup.  This investment round serves as a vital milestone for the Syrian startup ecosystem, signaling the initial influx of regional venture capital into local tech ventures and highlighting a growing interest in the potential of Syria's technology and entrepreneurship sectors.  Founded in 2024 by Mohammed Fawaz, Labby developed an integrated digital platform that consolidates an array of daily services into a single app.  These offerings include ride-hailing, food delivery, e-commerce, digital payments, and various on-demand services. The company aims to build a unified digital framework to streamline user access to services and accelerate digital transformation across the Syrian market.  Labby plans to deploy the newly acquired capital to fast-track technical product development, expand its digital service portfolio, and bolster its underlying technology infrastructure. Additionally, the funding will support market expansion strategy across Syria and drive the recruitment of top specialized talent.  Beyond accelerating Labby’s own growth trajectory, this landmark investment signals the rising maturity of the Syrian entrepreneurial environment and its capacity to attract international funding.  The deal is positioned to pave the way for further cross-border investment into Syrian startups as the local tech landscape continues to evolve into a more mature and competitive ecosystem.
