INDONESIA’S EXPORTS GROW 4.13 PERCENT IN JANUARY–JUNE 2026

Indonesia’s export performance strengthened in the first half of 2026, led by rising non-oil and gas exports. In June 2026, non-oil and gas exports reached USD 24.39 billion, up 8.68% from May, while total exports climbed 9.72% month-on-month to USD 25.46 billion. Export volumes also increased to 56.52 million metric tons, helping Indonesia maintain a trade surplus of USD 3.58 billion during January-June 2026. The surplus was driven by a USD 19.35 billion non-oil and gas surplus, which offset a USD 15.77 billion oil and gas deficit. Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the government will continue boosting exports through market expansion initiatives and support for new exporters. Despite the positive export trend, Indonesia’s trade balance faced pressure from rising import costs caused by global oil price spikes linked to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices surged from USD 60-65 per barrel in February to above USD 100 per barrel in April-May, pushing oil and gas import values significantly higher. To sustain export growth, the government is leveraging 25 active trade agreements, pursuing additional agreements under negotiation, expanding outreach through 46 Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPCs) in 33 countries, and utilizing the electronic Certificate of Origin (e-SKA) system to facilitate trade with key partner countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and the UAE.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2642686/indonesias-exports-grow-413-percent-in-january-june-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
