SIX INDONESIAN MINERS DEVELOPING NEW MINES TO BOOST RESERVES
Indonesia’s major mining companies are investing heavily in new nickel, copper, and gold projects to replenish reserves, extend mine life, and secure future production. Key developments include Vale Indonesia’s Tanamalia nickel project in South Sulawesi, which could begin mining by 2031 and support downstream processing through a planned HPAL facility, and Freeport Indonesia’s Kucing Liar underground mine in Papua, expected to become a major copper and gold producer with reserves of about 8 billion pounds of copper and 8 million ounces of gold. Merdeka Copper Gold is also expanding its Pani Gold Mine in Gorontalo, targeting annual production of up to 500,000 ounces of gold through heap-leach and future carbon-in-leach processing facilities. Other strategic projects include United Tractors’ acquisition of the Doup gold mine in North Sulawesi, Amman Mineral’s large Elang copper-gold deposit in Sumbawa, and Bumi Resources Minerals’ Linge gold project in Aceh. Together, these six projects strengthen Indonesia’s pipeline of critical minerals and precious metals, supporting the country’s ambitions in electric vehicles, electrification, and mining growth. They also highlight the significant investment required to maintain Indonesia’s position as a leading global producer as existing mines mature and production shifts to new deposits.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/7132/energy-and-resources/six-indonesian-miners-developing-new-mines-to-boost-reserves-here-s-who-they-are (ICE GIACARTA)
