Kazakhstan and Turkey to nearly double flight frequencyKazakhstan and Turkey have agreed to increase the total number of permitted flights between the two countries from 120 to 224 per week, the Kazakh Transport Ministry said.Aviation authorities from both countries held talks in Istanbul last week and signed a new memorandum of understanding on civil aviation, the ministry said.Under the agreement, the number of permitted flights on main routes — from Istanbul to Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, and from Ankara to Astana and Almaty — has been raised from 76 to 138 per week for carriers from both sides.On tourist routes — from Antalya and Bodrum to Kazakh cities — the number has been increased from 44 to 86 weekly flights.Carriers from both sides are allowed up to 14 flights per week on all other routes, paving the way for more direct air service and better regional connections.The Kazakh and Turkish aviation authorities also agreed to allow up to 76 cargo flights for both sides, with fifth-freedom traffic rights for transportation to third countries.
