KAZAKHSTAN-KMG-OUTPUT-H1-2

KazMunayGas cuts oil and gas condensate output 4.6% to 12.437 mln tonnes in H1 2026 (Part 2)Kazakhstan’s national oil company KazMunayGas (KMG) reduced oil and gas condensate production by 4.6% to 12.437 million tonnes in January-June 2026 compared with the same period last year, the company said."Oil and gas condensate production stood at 12.437 million tonnes, compared with 13.043 million tonnes in the same period last year," KMG said in its first-half production report.Associated and natural gas production decreased 4.7% to 5.457 billion cubic meters.KMG's share of production from the three major projects — Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak — fell 10.7% to 5.340 million tonnes.Tengiz production went down 14.7% to 3.321 million tonnes (147,000 bpd), with associated gas output down 7.3% to 2.056 billion cubic meters."The decline is due to restrictions on oil intake by the CPC system and a transformer fire at the Future Growth Project facilities in January 2026, which caused reduced capacity utilization. Full production was restored in late March 2026," KMG said.Kashagan production stood at 1.520 million tonnes (67,000 bpd), roughly unchanged from the first half of 2025, while gas output fell 6.5% to 930 million cubic meters. This is due to temporary restrictions at the CPC single-point moorings, the report said.Karachaganak oil and condensate production declined 12.9% to 499,000 tonnes (22,000 bpd), while gas output before reinjection decreased 12% to 1.162 billion cubic meters. "The decrease was due to unstable oil intake into the CPC system and limited raw gas intake by the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant," KMG said.KMG's operating assets — Ozenmunaigas, Embamunaigas, Mangistaumunaigas and others — saw production edge up 0.5% to 7.097 million tonnes.Ozenmunaigas production fell 1.1% to 2.499 million tonnes, while gas output rose 4.8% to 312 million cubic meters. "The slight decrease in oil production was due to systematic power supply restrictions, leading to forced shutdowns of producing wells and process equipment, as well as ongoing well stock rehabilitation efforts,” the report said.Embamunaigas production rose 7.3% to 1.476 million tonnes, with gas output up 67.2% to 179 million cubic meters, owing to the commissioning of the first start-up complex at the West Prorva field in 2025, with a design capacity of up to 200 cubic meters of gas per year.Mangistaumunaigas production declined 1% to 1.506 million tonnes, while gas output remained roughly flat at 225 million cubic meters.KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company, representing state interests in exploration, production, refining and transportation.
