INDONESIAN TAF INDUSTRY RECORDS USD 4.85 BILLION EXPORTS IN FIRST HALF OF 2026
Indonesia’s textile, apparel, and footwear (TAF) industry remains a key pillar of the national economy, employing more than 3.8 million workers and generating USD 4.85 billion in exports during the first half of 2026. Despite challenges faced by some companies, the sector continues to show resilience and growth potential, supported by strong business confidence, as reflected in the July Industrial Confidence Index (ICI) of 53.10. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita highlighted that new investments and business expansions demonstrate the sector’s ability to continue growing amid global pressures. To strengthen competitiveness, the government is implementing measures such as investment incentives, restructuring programs, export financing, labor-intensive industry credit, and trade protection policies. It is also accelerating the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap and promoting Green Industry Standards to encourage technological upgrades, workforce development, and sustainable production practices. With opportunities from the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), the industry is expected to expand exports and investment by improving quality, innovation, efficiency, and compliance with international standards.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2660670/indonesian-taf-industry-records-usd-485-billion-exports-in-first-half-of-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
