KEMDIKTISAINTEK AND PERTAMINA PARTNER ON SECOND-GENERATION BIOETHANOL FROM PALM

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) and PT Pertamina are exploring second-generation bioethanol production using oil palm empty fruit bunches (TKKS). Partnering with India’s Praj Industries, they plan to assess a small-scale pilot plant to evaluate technological feasibility, investment needs, and domestic economic viability. Minister Brian Yuliarto emphasized that utilizing TKKS adds value to palm oil byproducts without new land clearing, supporting national energy independence under the Astacita framework. Pertamina Vice President Oki Muraza highlighted the goal of mastering proprietary technology, while both parties stressed building a sustainable supply chain that benefits local farmers.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5703128/kemdiktisaintek-dan-pertamina-kembangkan-bioetanol-dari-tandan-sawit (ICE GIACARTA)
