The Damascus Fairgrounds has seen a surge in specialized exhibitions across multiple economic sectors since early 2026, with these events now coming together under one umbrella as the 63rd Damascus International Fair runs from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4. The fair brings together companies and investors in a single economic space, creating a platform for cooperation and expertise exchange, organizers said.  Salah Aziziyeh, Events Manager at Glovent, told SANA on Saturday that the fair serves as a key economic and commercial platform bringing together companies and sectors from local, Arab, regional and international levels.  “The fair is not just an economic event, but also a space for networking, exchanging expertise and opening new channels for cooperation between companies and various parties,” Aziziyeh said.  He added that the specialized exhibitions held throughout the year at the Damascus Fairgrounds will converge at the international fair, making it a unique opportunity to explore a larger number of companies and economic opportunities in one location.  Aziziyeh noted that participation in the fair offers a chance to discover new companies, understand their work and services, and explore cooperation opportunities or host them in future exhibitions.  “The organization process inside the fair is a valuable experience, given the large spaces, number of pavilions, companies and visitors, providing insight into pavilion distribution, visitor flow management and event coordination,” he said.  Delta Group CEO Ghayath al-Shamaa, organizer of the “Food Expo” held in June, highlighted the importance of the Damascus International Fair as one of the region’s oldest exhibitions, with a history spanning over 60 years. He described it as a key platform for trade and cultural exchange between Syria and the world, supporting the local economy, promoting Syrian products in foreign markets and boosting export opportunities.  Al-Shamaa said the fair, revived in a new format last year, contributes to rebuilding Syria and enhancing its international standing as a regional hub for major events and exhibitions.  The fair allows global companies to showcase their products and connect with local markets, while supporting the presence of Syrian products on the international exhibition and conference map, he added.  Specialized exhibitions in Syria are witnessing rapid growth and development in organization, with increasing competition among companies, national expertise and accumulated experience, as seen in “Food Expo,” one of Syria’s leading platforms in food, beverage and packaging sectors.The 62nd Damascus International Fair, held from Aug. 28 to Sept. 5, 2025, attracted 2.261 million visitors and recorded contracts and agreements worth over 935 billion Syrian pounds.  The 63rd edition is set to feature a ministerial economic roundtable under the title “The Road to the Damascus World Economic Forum,” establishing a sustainable economic dialogue platform bringing together government, the private sector, investors and international partners.
