Wonkang, a company specializing in construction and mining equipment components, is expanding its export markets into Europe by supplying products to customers in Italy and Belgium. The company aims to diversify its overseas sales beyond its traditional focus on the Middle East and Asia by expanding into Southern and Western Europe.   Wonkang said it supplied construction and mining equipment components this year to a construction company based in Milan, Italy, and a company in Brussels, Belgium. The Italian customer placed its first order early in the year and has since continued to place additional orders. Wonkang explained that its export expansion faced challenges last year due to tighter U.S. tariffs on steel-related products and logistical burdens caused by geopolitical instability in the Middle East.   The products supplied to Europe were tailored to local working environments and customer requirements. Wonkang has developed its “Road Bit” products based on pick-cutter technology researched and developed in cooperation with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology. During the European market entry process, the company reviewed local working conditions and product preferences and adjusted product specifications accordingly. Rather than simply exporting existing products, Wonkang has focused on developing products that meet the specific needs of its customers.   Wonkang also plans to participate in local trade shows to expand its European customer base. In October, the company will showcase its proprietary products at GEOFLUID 2026, an international exhibition specializing in geotechnical engineering and excavation, which will be held in Piacenza, Italy. Through the event, Wonkang plans to strengthen relationships with existing customers while identifying new buyers in Italy, Southern Europe, and the Benelux region.   The impact of the European export expansion on Wonkang’s overall performance will need to be assessed through future export volumes.
