Kazakhstan, Singapore sign water management, Middle Corridor development agreementsKazakhstan and Singapore have signed a series of agreements during a visit by Singapore's Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Astana, the Kazakh government press service said.Kazakhstan's Water Resources Ministry and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise signed an agreement on a program titled "Leadership in Sustainable Urban Water and Waste Management."Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd, a joint venture created by the railway operators of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise also signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on multimodal transport, trade facilitation and digitalization.The deals will allow Kazakhstan to tap Singapore's expertise, train local specialists and adopt modern practices in water management, transport and trade, including to develop the Middle Corridor, the government said.Bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Singapore approached $1 billion in 2025, reaching $777 million in the first six months of 2026 — a 2.5-fold increase from the same period last year, the government said. Gross foreign direct investment from Singapore doubled to about $1.5 billion in 2025.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and onward to Turkey and Europe.
