Kazakhstan harvest doubles grain yield as 34% of cropland reapedKazakh farmers have brought in 5.4 million hectares of grain, or 34.4% of the total planted area, Agriculture Ministry officials said Thursday.Deputy Minister Nazgul Khatepova told a ministry meeting that "this year's total cropland covers 24.2 million hectares, including 15.6 million hectares of grains and pulses."The harvest is running ahead of last year's pace, the ministry said. At this time in 2025, farmers had reaped just 2.7 million hectares, or 16.7% of the area.Grain threshing has reached 7.5 million metric tonnes, up from 3.7 million tonnes a year earlier, Khatepova said. Vegetable production stands at 1.9 million tonnes, melons at 1.7 million tonnes and potatoes at 783,000 tonnes. An earlier-than-usual start to the harvest is due to accelerated crop maturation following an abnormally hot summer, the ministry said.Average grain yields are higher than last year, at 16.4 centners per hectare compared with 14.8 centners per hectare in 2025, according to earlier ministry figures.Kazakhstan increased its total grain harvest by 2% to 27 million tonnes in 2025, with yields of 17 centners per hectare, up from 16 centners per hectare the previous year.
