Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has identified eight priority programs for 2027 to strengthen the manufacturing sector, improve productivity and competitiveness, and support continued industrial growth. The initiatives are aligned with the government’s 2027 development plan, which targets 5.8% economic growth, 5.86% manufacturing growth, and a manufacturing contribution of 21.5% of GDP. The priorities include developing industrial human resources, strengthening small and medium industries within supply chains, advancing downstream processing of natural resources and other priority industries, promoting innovation and technology, increasing the use of domestic products, developing the halal industry, expanding exports of industrial services, and accelerating green industry and industrial estate development. Industry Minister of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said these programs are intended to reinforce the foundations of Indonesia’s industrial sector while supporting domestic market expansion, productivity gains, industrial transformation, and wider market access. However, the ministry faces budget challenges, with its 2027 budget ceiling set at IDR 2.01 trillion, a 19.5% decrease from the initial 2026 allocation.
