KAZAKHSTAN-SCO-TRANSPORT-COOPERATION

Tokayev urges faster development of SCO transport connectivityPresident Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for accelerating the development of a modern transport and logistics framework for Eurasia and adopting a SCO transport connectivity strategy."Kazakhstan attaches great importance to linking the Belt and Road Initiative, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the North-South corridor and emerging trade routes between Central and South Asia," Tokayev said at the SCO heads of state council meeting in Bishkek. "Kazakhstan is ready to facilitate the advancement of transport initiatives across the SCO space."He said Kazakhstan supports the digitalization of customs procedures, mutual recognition of electronic documents, the application of "green corridor" principles and other modern mechanisms."An effective solution could be the creation of a unified SCO digital transit platform for seamless cargo tracking from point of departure to final destination," Tokayev said. "We propose developing and adopting an SCO transport connectivity strategy through 2035." (ICE ALMATY)
