IRAQ-EU TRADE AND INVESTMENT TALKS IN BAGHDAD

A meeting in Baghdad between Iraqi officials and a European Union delegation has covered a range of trade and investment topics, including Iraq's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the activation of a partnership and cooperation agreement between Iraq and the EU.The meeting was hosted by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and attended by the Ministry of Trade, represented by Malik Khalaf al-Durei'i, Director-General of the Private Sector Development Directorate.Topics discussed included:The Iraq-EU partnership and cooperation agreementThe national investment mapThe JOBS-SAAVI private sector development projectWTO accession, in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC)Commercial integrity, arbitration, and corporate social responsibilityDigital economy, smart cities, and entrepreneurship capacity-buildingActivation of a memorandum of understanding between the Federation of Iraqi Chambers and its European counterpartEuropean participation in the Iraqi-European Business Forum, as part of the Iraq National Trade and Investment Forum (INTF 2026)Al-Durei'i emphasized the importance of public-private sector integration in developing the investment environment and making use of international partnerships to transfer expertise and raise the efficiency of local enterprises (ICE AMMAN)
