Ukraine maintained its status as a net exporter of electricity for the second consecutive month in August, with exports exceeding imports by more than 100%.According to analysts, Ukraine exported 382,100 MWh of electricity during the month, up 64.4% compared with July. Imports increased by only 5% to 184,000 MWh, resulting in net exports of approximately 198,200 MWh.Electricity exports increased across all major directions. Hungary remained Ukraine’s largest export market, receiving 173,000 MWh, up 55% from July and accounting for approximately 45% of total Ukrainian electricity exports.Exports to Moldova increased by 65%, while supplies to Romania jumped by 85%. Electricity exports to Slovakia and Poland increased by 81% and 83%, respectively.Hungary also remained Ukraine’s largest source of imported electricity, supplying 74,600 MWh in August, 8% more than in July. Imports from Poland increased by 46%, while supplies from Slovakia declined by 10%.Despite the strong monthly increase, Ukraine’s electricity trade remains below last year’s levels. Compared with August 2025, electricity imports declined by approximately 30%, while exports were 15% lower.The second consecutive month of net electricity exports demonstrates a significant improvement in Ukraine’s power balance ahead of the winter heating season.
