Head of the Syria Investment Authority (SIA) Ahmad Rawad Ramadan discussed with UNDP Representative Melanie Hauenstein prospects for cooperation and coordination to support Syria’s development and investment priorities at the authority’s headquarters in Damascus.  The meeting reviewed the authority’s vision for regulating and developing the investment environment and approaching Syria as an integrated investment opportunity, with the aim of strengthening investment’s role in supporting development and addressing current priorities.  The two sides discussed support for sustainable development projects and the preservation of existing Syrianindustries, particularly the textile industry, while enhancing their continuity and protecting the groups dependent on them.  They agreedto prepare a list of priority development needs ahead of a high-level coordination meeting to discuss potential areas of cooperation andsupport.
