INDONESIA EYES US$3.8 TRILLION ENERGY TRANSITION INVESTMENT BY 2050
Indonesia has the potential to attract up to US$3.8 trillion in energy transition investments by 2050, according to Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). He noted that the energy transition has become a key driver of economic competitiveness, energy security, and industrial strategy, while global investment in the sector reached a record US$2.3 trillion in 2025, with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for nearly half of the total. Indonesia is considered well-positioned to benefit due to its abundant critical minerals, renewable energy resources, large domestic market, and growing electric vehicle, battery, biofuel, and geothermal industries. To maximize these opportunities, Anindya Novyan Bakrie highlighted three priorities: ensuring the energy transition strengthens national competitiveness and energy security, moving beyond raw material exports toward higher-value green industrialization, and closing the gap between available capital and bankable projects through stronger regulations, infrastructure, and financing mechanisms. He emphasized that close collaboration between the government and private sector will be essential to support sustainable investments and achieve Indonesia’s long-term development goals.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/434240/indonesia-eyes-us38-trillion-energy-transition-investment-by-2050?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
