INDIA’S QUICK COMMERCE MARKET POISED FOR SEVEN-FOLD GROWTH TO US$ 90 BILLION BY FY31: REPORT
India’s quick commerce market is projected to expand nearly seven-fold to Rs. 8.54 lakh crore (US$ 90 billion) by FY31, from around Rs. 1.15 lakh crore (US$ 13 billion) in FY26, driven by deeper penetration in metro households and rising user adoption across non-metro markets, according to a Google and Redseer Strategy Consultants report. Monthly transacting users are expected to exceed 100 million nationwide by FY31, with metros accounting for around 60% of incremental growth. Quick commerce’s share of metro retail spending could increase from around 6% currently to 20-23%. In the near term, quick commerce sales are projected to grow 110% year-on-year during the festive season and account for around 18% of total online festive spending. The next phase of expansion is expected to depend on platforms moving beyond small top-up grocery purchases towards larger, planned household purchases.Non-grocery categories, including beauty, personal care, home essentials and electronics, are projected to expand from around Rs. 26,511 crore (US$ 3 billion) in FY26 to Rs. 1.99-2.56 lakh crore (US$ 21-27 billion) by FY31. Wider product assortments, stronger assurances on authenticity and replacements, and improved product discovery are expected to support this growth. Outside metros, the addressable market includes around 200 million online shoppers across more than 300 cities, with monthly transacting users expected to reach 55-60 million by FY31. However, smaller baskets, freshness concerns and purchase trust remain key challenges. Future expansion will require platforms and brands to adapt to local consumer preferences, strengthen consumer trust and connect online product discovery with faster local fulfilment.Disclaimer: This information has been collected through secondary research and IBEF is not responsible for any errors in the same.https://www.ibef.org/news/india-s-quick-commerce-market-poised-for-seven-fold-growth-to-us-90-billion-by-fy31-report (ICE MUMBAI)
